Spago Star Rating
Waking up late in Las Vegas, my friends and I went searching for some late lunch. After trying to hit up Mesa Grill and a few others that were all closed at 2pm after lunch, we stumbled into the Caesar’s Forums and ended up at Spago. The restaurant was almost completely empty… guess people don’t eat lunch at 3pm. It was great for us because we really did not want to be around people after a really late night out. We were really hungry and when we first looked at the menu, we were not pleased with what we saw.
We order a few salads, pizza, pasta and some cold soup (forgot what the formal name of it was called). There was four of us eating at Spago that day, and we all loved our orders. All of us were pleasantly surprised as we didn’t know what to expect from looking at the menu. Once again, when you have low expectations in Vegas, just like how I judged the Grand Lux Cafe and Wazuzu, you might just find a gem. And just like how I thought Mizumi at Encore Wynn was going to be amazing, it was quite the opposite.
Being open in the afternoon when everyone in Vegas seems to be closed for cleaning is a good thing too. You would think Vegas would be busy all day and night but it seem late night and mid-afternoon dining is really lacking everywhere.
If you like good pizza and great service, eat here! I dont know what to call this kind of food and though the menu looks really bad, the food tastes great. They need a better menu design perhaps? I know a few friends that looked at the menu and didn’t want to bother eating there. Im not sure if I will choose to go back here as there are many great restaurant choices in Vegas to choose from. Plus, I am not a big pizza eater. Regardless, it was a great find and made for a good afternoon dining memory.
